In 1937 Majda Sepe, neé Bernard, the great singer of the golden age of Slovenian pop songs, was born In Ljubljana.

Sepe spent her childhood living with her parents at Ljubljana Castle, which was between 1905 and 1964 inhabited by poor families with nowhere else to go.

As a teenager Sepe was determined to become a singer and actress. She took ballet lessons and attended primary and secondary school for music. While in high school she took signing lessons, and at the same time started modelling as well. In 1960 she joined the Jazz Festival in Bled, and in 1962 she performed at the Slovenska popevka music festival for the first time, and performed there every year of the festival, with only one exception in 1968.

She was married to the son of her high school singing teacher, the composer Mojmir Sepe, who also wrote many songs that she sang and are now considered as evergreen classics of the genre. Majda Sepe left us in 2006.
