In total, Slovenian universities will welcome nearly 18,481 new students, almost 660 fewer than in the previous academic year.
The University of Ljubljana remains the largest in the country. More than 9,230 new students have been enrolled, while some 2,000 spots are reserved for non-EU citizens.
The University of Maribor will welcome some 4,580 new students, and the University of Primorska will take nearly 1,500 new students.
The private University of Nova Gorica will accept 245 students, while other higher education institutions with public licences together will take 1,850 new students.
According to the Education Ministry, the most popular courses this year are arts, design, sports, psychology, health and veterinary studies, security and pre-school care.
This year a total of 11,941 beds will be available in state-subsidised student dorms around the country, most in Ljubljana, where some 10% of the dorm beds are occupied by students from other countries.
