EU
"Civil war for democracy": French President Emmanuel Macron called for profound reform of the EU to fight the rising nationalism and anti-liberal movements as he addressed the European Parliament. He believes a public debate on the future of the bloc should be launched in member states. (front page, 3)

Investment
"Environmentalists also in Lonstroff's way": The government and Swiss company Lonstroff, which will build an elastomer production plant in Logatec, are to sign an incentive contract today. However it remains to be seen if the construction will start as planned on 17 May, because an environmental NGO has voiced concern over the brown field investment. (front page, 8)

Literary events
"April literary blossoms": Three major literary events, Slovenian Book Days, the 50th International Writers' Meeting, and Nodier Days, are getting under way in Slovenia ahead of World Book Day, observed on 23 April. (front page, 17)

"New route through Bosnia-Herzegovina already operational": The number of illegal crossings of the Slovenian-Croatian border has increased over recent days. While the figures are nowhere near those from 2015, a new refugee route has apparently opened through Bosnia and Herzegovina. (front page, 2)

Faces of Future
"Closing event of this year's Faces of Future": Publisher Dnevnik hosted a ceremony for around 300 secondary school students who participated in the project for young aspiring reporters. (front page)

Real estate
"Blue villa more of an exception than a rule": Ljubljana has changed the zoning plan for an area in the borough of Dravlje for a development launched by Marko Otoničar, the husband of the acting director of the city administration, in an extremely quick procedure. The city has only decided in eight cases so fast in the past. (front page, 9)

FINANCE

Trials
"Why do cases against giants like Miro Senica and Zoran Janković fall through?": The case against influential lawyer Miro Senica over allegedly taking bribes as well as the case against Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković over corruption in running the capital appeared watertight at first, but then got complicated and evidence has been thrown out. (front page, 2, 3)

Interview
"Interview with Slovenian cryptomillionaire: What happens when FURS comes knocking on your doors?": The paper runs an interview with an unnamed 25-year-old who has earned millions by investing in cryptocurrencies. He spoke about the traps of the trade as well as challenges in dealing with financial authorities. (front page, 6, 7)

Francs
"Franc almost at the psychological limit of 1.2 franc for euro": The value of Swiss franc increased to 1.19 francs for one euro, with the psychological limit at 1.2 francs, the value at which the Swiss central bank kept the franc before deciding to lift the cap on the currency. (front page, 4)

VEČER

Maribor
"They're running out of steam": Športni objekti Maribor, the operator of sports facilities in Maribor, has run into financial difficulties after incurring almost half a million euro in loss over the past few years. The trouble has had an impact on the maintenance of the city's sports facilities. (front page, 9)

Tourist fee
"Fee to hit hard": Visitors of Ptuj will have to pay a EUR 2.5 tourist fee under the city council's decree which more than doubled the levy. Providers are outraged. (front page, 15)

Church
"Church did not report suspicion to police": The Church has failed to report suspected sexual abuse by a Ljutomer priest to the police after he was removed from his parish. Bishops' Conference secretary general Tadej Strehovec told the paper that automatic denunciation was not good, because victims could be put off from reporting alleged abusers to the Church. (front page, 5)
