Below is a review of the headlines in Slovenian dailies for Monday, 4 June 2018, as prepared by the STA

DELO

General election
"The winner. Will anybody join him?": As the Democrats (SDS) of Janez Janša convincingly won the election, the paper says that divisions must be overcome for Slovenia not to have a weak government or another snap election. Slovenia is in for a difficult search for partners which are capable of making compromises for the good of all citizens. (front page, 2-5)

Attack in Berlin
"Shooting in Berlin Cathedral": The German police shot an unknown man in front of Berlin Cathedral yesterday, with first reports saying that the shooting was not terrorism-related. A police officer was also injured in the shooting. (front page)

DNEVNIK

General election
"Crucified and uncrucified, their purgatory and our hell": Analysing the result of Sunday's general election, the paper says that no-one could be satisfied, as the Democrats (SDS) have been stuck half-way towards the throne, while the left has found itself half-way towards hell. (front page)

General election
"Win for the Democrats, but without promise of rule": The Democrats (SDS) are the winners of Sunday's general election with around a quarter of the vote, but the question is whether SDS president Janez Janša will be able to form a new government. (page 2)

FINANCE

General election
"Four post-election scenarios: Who wants to rule will first have to know how to count": The paper says that there are several paths and combinations to form a new government after Sunday's general election, with a centre-left coalition joined by the conservative New Slovenia (NSi) being the most realistic option. (front page, 2-3)

Takeovers
"Unofficial: KKR and Ring after Cinkarna Celje": Austria's Ring International, which had acquired coatings maker Helios in 2014 to sell it to a Japanese company two years later, is reportedly after chemical company Cinkarna Celje in collaboration with the US investment fund Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR). (front page, 8)

VEČER

General election
"Janša wins. And now what?": The Democrats (SDS) of Janez Janša are the convincing winners of Sunday's general election ahead of the Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) of the mayor of Kamnik. The first reactions see the leaders from the centre-left rejecting a possible coalition with the SDS. (front page, 2-5)

Sport
"European champion for second time": After winning the European champion title for a second time on Saturday in Prague, the 34-year-old Slovenian slalom canoeist Peter Kauzer said he was like wine - the older, the better. (front page, 18)
