Science festival
"Science in the streets to fight non-thinking and stuffiness": The European Researchers' Night will see scientists and researchers raise awareness about its importance in the streets of more than 300 towns EU-wide, including in Slovenia. (front page, 14-15)

Manager of 2018 award
"Higher wages only with higher added value": Boštjan Gorjup, director of BSH Hišni Aparati, who has won the Manager of 2018 award, given out by the Manager Association, believes employees in Slovenia must focus on generating added value to compete with neighbouring countries, where pay is higher. (front page, 16)

Management of state assets
"Unclear value of state silverware": The total value of all state assets is estimated at almost EUR 32bn, but the Court of Audit warns for the third year in a row that the state lacks proper documents for its assets. (front page, 16)

Koper's new sports park
"Popovič's sports park caves in": Koper Mayor Boris Popovič has some problems with the first major project he was to present ahead of local election. A sports park with six beach volleyball courts and almost 400-metre running track that was due to open on 6 October caved in by more than a metre the past weekend. (front page, 7)

"Winning municipal apartment in Ljubljana has become lottery": Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković picked ten individuals, couples and families among the 271 applicants eligible for municipal apartments with a draw yesterday. They will rent the municipality's non-profit apartments for ten years. (front page, 3, 18)

Government staffing
"Only Fakin has problems finding secretaries": The new government will take several staffing decisions at today's session, including appoint the new head of the national intelligence and security agency, SOVA, and the government protocol service. The first female Health Ministry state secretary, Pia Vračko, will also be appointed. (front page, 2)

Contentious payments at Faculty of Arts
"Chancellor Papič will not yield to pressure": Chancellor of the University of Ljubljana Igor Papič told reporters yesterday that he had been under pressure by some people to abandon the efforts to get to the bottom of contentious payments made to senior staff at the Faculty of Arts. He said that he would not yield. (front page, 4)

Analysis of planned tax changes
"Analysis: How much would Šarec's tax ideas cost you": The paper brings hypothetical calculations on possible new taxes based on the coalition agreement of the Marjan Šarec government. (front page, 2-3)

Takeover
"Biggest Slovenian farm of milking cows on the verge of takeover": The struggling Farme Ihan, Slovenia's biggest farm of milking cows, is on sale. The company has received ten non-binding bids. (front page, 4)

Innovation
"Products that will increase companies' profit": The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) handed out yesterday its awards for best innovations to companies, innovators in companies and public research institutes, selecting the winners of ten golden awards among 42 best innovations at the national level. (front page, 6)

Energy prices
"Heating will get costlier": The prices of wood and other energy sources have been rising. Because of high prices and people's ignorance, too many inappropriate materials are being used for heating. (front page, 6)

Journalist conviction
"Prison sentence and ban on journalist work": The Slovenj Gradec District Court has sentenced journalist Vladimir Vodušek to a year and a half in prison for attempted extortion. Vodušek also received a one-year ban on journalist work. (front page, 20)

Staffing at ministries
"Well-known names among those who got jobs based on trust": The ministers of the Marjan Šarec cabinet have presented their teams. Quite a few of the new staff got the job based on their political affiliation. (front page, 5)
