Below is a review of the headlines in Slovenian dailies for Friday, 28 September 2018, as prepared by the STA

DELO

Public sector negotiations
"Seekers of consensus": The government appointed yesterday its team for pay talks with public sector trade unions, naming Peter Pogačar from the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities its head. (front page, 2)

Economic forecast
"Growth will be high but risks are increasing": Slovenia remains one of the fastest growing economies in the eurozone but much like its partners it is seeing growth calming down. The Institute of Macroeconomic Analysis and Development has downgraded its GDP growth forecast for Slovenia from 5.1% to 4.4% for this year and from 3.8% to 3.7% for the next. (front page, 11)

Managers' annual conference
"Prime Minister Šarec: Pay is not natural phenomenon": Addressing the annual conference of managers in Portorož, Prime Minister Marjan Šarec said his government will always keep the door open to managers. (front page, 10)

Funds abuse at Education Ministry
"Inspection of disputed Papian's studies shows he could not have written them himself": Investigating a decade-old funds abuse at Education Ministry, the paper gained access to the studies signed by Armenian healer Ruben Papian for which he reportedly received almost EUR 26,000, concluding that a non-native Slovenian could not have written them alone. (front page, 2)

Journalist punishment
"First ban on journalist work": Vladimir Vodušek is the first man to be banned from journalist work in line with a court ruling that is not final yet. The Slovenj Gradec District Court sentenced Vodušek to a year and a half in prison for attempted extortion of a businessman. (front page 4)

Football
"Football and politics: Germany beats Turkey in race for host of UEFA Euro 2024": The day when Turkish President Recep Erdogan arrived in Germany for a three-day visit to improve the rather tense relations between the countries, UEFA picked Germany as host of the Euro 2024. (front page, 20)

FINANCE

Loans
"Banks increasingly embracing real estate projects": As the prices of new apartments are skyrocketing, demand for financing of real estate projects is rising as well, so the paper presents possible sources of financing. (front page, 2-3)

GDP forecast
