"St Matthew not doing his job this year, polar cold coming in": Although an old proverb says that the winter should say goodbye around St Mathews's, Slovenia is in for an icy cold morning on Sunday and the cold will intensify in the next couple of days. (front page, 8)

Army scandal
"Replacements at army top - what now?": The government dismissed yesterday Major General Andrej Osterman as the chief of the general staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces after an elite brigade failed at a NATO combat readiness test last week. Deputy Alan Geder was appointed as his replacement. (front page, 2)

"Geder will remedy 'deliberate humiliation' of the army": The paper says that its expectations were confirmed yesterday, as Defence Minister Andreja Katič put the blame for the army debacle at a NATO test on Major General Andrej Osterman as the chief of the general staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces. Energy
"Gazprom remains gas supplier for Slovenia": Russian giant Gazprom will continue to be the main supplier of gas for Slovenia. A deal on long-term cooperation is to be signed next month. (front page, 5)
General election
"Lists to be topped by new-old names": The presidency of the coalition Social Democrats (SD) has confirmed a preliminary list of candidates for the general election in the spring, which features senior SD members as well as some public figures. (front page, 3)

Fate of Gorenjska banka
