Balkan Warrior trial
"New leg of marathon process completing": The Balkan Warrior drug trafficking trial is set to end today eight years after arrests, a ruling at the first instance which was overturned on appeal, and most recently a retrial that featured 128 days of hearings. (front page, 4)

Merkel's Poland visit
"Merkel concerned about future of entire EU": German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited Poland yesterday. The two countries have been at odds in recent years, but Germany is convinced EU member states must come closer. (front page, 3)

Italy-Slovenia train link
"Train to Trieste Airport": A new train station was inaugurated yesterday at Trieste Airport, a milestone that paves the way for the relaunch of regular train service between Ljubljana and Trieste, which was discontinued in 2011. (front page, 12)

General election
"Half of Šarec's voters come from Cerar": The latest polling shows that the majority of voters who plumped for the Left and Modern Centre Party (SMC) in 2014 are now either undecided or inclined to vote for other parties. The Marjan Šarec List, meanwhile, is attracting voters from across the field, making it difficult to pinpoint its profile. (front page, 2)

Ljubljana traffic
"Municipality reconciled to road closure chaos": After Easter, two major roads in the centre of Ljubljana, Gosposvetska Street and Dalmatinova Street, will be closed. Congestion is inevitable, but just how bad it will be is impossible to determine in the absence of computer modelling. (front page, 9)

Flooding in Croatia
"Sava level the highest in history": The highest level of the Sava River in history, 930 centimetres, was measured close to Jasenovac, Croatia, yesterday. The water is projected to continue to rise. (front page)

Construction industry
"Plenty of work for builders even without second rail, deals worth over a billion euro": DARS, the national motorway company, will open offers for construction of the second tube of the Karavanke Tunnel. This is just one of many upcoming projects, in what is currently a boon for construction companies. (front page, 2, 3)

Home prices
"Apartment construction significantly more expensive": The Statistics Office has recorded a significant increase in the price of construction of new housing as contractors raise their prices and inputs become more expensive. (front page, 14)

SSH staffing
"Will supervisor Damjan Belič be the new board member?": There are several possible options as the supervisory board of the SSH decides on a new board member on Thursday. It could pick one of the two shortlisted candidates, or supervisor Damjan Belič could be installed as a board member for a year. (front page, 10, 11)

AirBnB tax
"You have to register for VAT even if you earn just a thousand": Everyone renting out apartments over AirBnB or Booking.com must be registered for VAT. The rule is not new, it is just that most people are flaunting it. (front page, 4, 5)

Maribor development
"After Magna, the airport": The expansion of the Edvard Rusjan Airport in Maribor, which involves an 800-metre extension of the runway, is proceeding at full speed. But the plans raise similar concerns as the Magna investment nearby: use of prime agricultural land, construction on a protected water area, and fears by locals about noise. (front page, 10, 11)

Football
"They'll miss the captain": The Slovenian national football team gathered with new coach Tomaž Kavčič for the first time as they prepare for a friendly against Austria. There were four newcomers, but everyone lamented the absence of the retired captain Boštjan Cesar. (front page, 22)

New leadership of University of Maribor
"Four vying for chancellor": There are four candidates for chancellor of the University of Maribor, three current vice-chancellors and a professor from the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering. (front page, 8, 9)

Crime
"Murderer gets 25 years the second time around": Romeo Bajde was sentenced to 25 years in prison in a retrial for the murder of his partner Lidija Škratek. (front page, 20, 21)

Energy
"In Šalek Valley, it's all about TEŠ": After a series of stoppages, General Electric engineers have recently inspected the new unit 6 at the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant (TEŠ). Their findings remain confidential for now. (front page, 12)
