STA, 23 August 2018 - In a bid to make Slovenia's energy sector more efficient, the emerging government coalition will promote renewable sources of energy, chiefly water energy on the Sava river. Its environmental policy will, meanwhile, seek to keep Slovenia green but also attractive to sustainable investors. A green tax reform is also planned. 

STA, 23 August 2018 - The European Day of Remembrance for Victims of Totalitarian Regimes will be marked in Slovenia with various events today, including by President Borut Pahor's visiting the largest Jewish cemetery in the country. 

STA, 22 August 2018 - Two unselected bidders for the construction of the Slovenian section of the second tube of the Karavanke motorway tunnel between Slovenia and Austria have filed for a review of the pick of a Turkish contractor for the job. This will effectively delay the start of the work by at least a few months.

STA, 21 August 2018 - PM-designate Marjan Šarec has made it clear on several occasions that dealing with the crisis in healthcare will be one of the top priorities of his government. However, the stakeholders doubt whether the new cabinet will be up to the task. 

STA, 21 August 2018 - The emerging government coalition would like to overhaul the public sector's uniform pay system by taking into account the specifics of different professions. Its plans also entail changing public procurement, streamlining the civil service, and giving municipalities more powers. 

STA, 22 August 2018 - The medieval town of Ptuj will host the annual Days of Poetry and Wine festival between Wednesday and Saturday. More than 55 admission-free events will be held around Slovenia's oldest town, featuring 22 poets from 16 countries.

STA, 21 August 2018 - The incoming government coalition is planning to upgrade the pension system and shore it up with a demographic fund in order to make it financially sustainable in the long run. Unofficial information obtained by the STA also indicates the partners plan to raise pensions and welfare benefits.

The STA has learnt that plans include a greater say for voters when it comes to determining which candidates make it to parliament as well as the end of judicial appointments by parliament.
