STA, 20 August 2018 - Mt Triglav, Slovenia's highest peak and a solemn symbol of the Slovenian nation, will be without its landmark tower for the first time after 123 years this autumn. The Aljaž Tower will be taken to the valley for the first time for the much needed repair on the metal construction. 

STA, 20 August 2018 – TAB, the Mežica-based maker of vehicle and stationary batteries, announced on Monday that its talks with the South African battery maker Metair Investments on a potential strategic tie-up had been suspended. Metair reportedly decided to focus on optimisation of its existing companies due to exchange rate volatility in South Africa and Turkey. 

STA, 19 August 2018 - Slovenian cyclist Matej Mohorič won the BinckBank Tour on Sunday to become the fourth Slovenian to win a world series race after Primož Roglič, Simon Špilak and Grega Bole. 

STA, 20 August 2018 - Democrat (SDS) leader Janez Janša, who abstained from engaging in Friday's debate in parliament when Marjan Šarec was appointed prime minister-designate, labelled Šarec's appointment "another political scam" Slovenia had experienced since it declared independence.

STA, 19 August 2018 - Slovenian climbers reached a new milestone in Munich on Saturday, having won three medals at the IFSC World Cup event. Janja Garnbret and Gregor Vezonik won in their respective categories and Jernej Kruder was second, which earned him the overall victory in the bouldering World Cup. 

Although the end of the summer season is looming that doesn’t mean things are slowing down in the capital, with lovers of classical music, theatre and dance especially well served this week.

STA, 17 August 2018 - Analysts Igor Pribac and Žiga Turk both highlighted in their response to Friday's parliamentary address by Marjan Šarec the newly appointed prime minister's listing of healthcare as the cabinet's top priority. Pribac believes healthcare will be the stand or fall issue for the new government. 

From August 16 until February 15, 2019 visitors to Ljubljana will have a chance to see a collection of gold items from the Imperial Treasury of the Ming dynasty, from the reign of the Wanli Emperor (1573–1620), which rarely leave Beijing and are being shown in Slovenia for the first time.

STA, 17 August 2018 - Lynda Blanchard, the nominee for the new US Ambassador to Slovenia, described Slovenia in a hearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in Washington on Friday as "a reliable partner of the US" and a "regional leader in implementing democratic reforms" in the Balkan region. She pledged to encourage the continuation of privatisation.
