STA, 9 July 2018 - The newspaper Dnevnik reports on Monday that Slovenian NGOs had found out that police officers are forcedly rejecting asylum seekers who cross the Slovenian border in the south-eastern region of Bela Krajina and returning them to Croatia. The police and the Ministry of the Interior have meanwhile denied these reports. 

FRONTEX is also known as the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, and is tasked with the work of controlling the border of the Schengen area.

STA, 8 July 2018 - The 60-year-old Italian caver, who injured himself Saturday afternoon when exploring a cave near Sežana, was rescued in the early morning hours on Sunday. It took a 31-member cave rescue team and the local firefighting brigade more than 12 hours to lift the man along the narrow 80-metre vertical shaft.

STA, 7 July 2018 - An Italian caver injured himself in a cave near the village of Orlek near Sežana on Saturday afternoon and is now trapped in the cave. A rescue operation is under way but according to the Cave Rescue Service the operation is technically demanding and will involve cave expansion.

STA, 7 July 2018 - Celje, one of the biggest cities in the country, will get a public transport system on 1 January 2019. The operator is yet to be chosen but the fares have already been set by the city council. Celje is one of the last two city municipalities without public transport. 

This week’s search through the archives has come back with a set of postcards from Škofja Loka (Bischoflack in German, as seen in some examples), the first town in Carnolia to get electric lighting and home to the Cappuchin Bridge, the oldest such structure in Slovenia.
