STA, 10 May 2018 - Slovenian's household appliances maker Gorenje saw its first quarter group net profit increase by 23.5% year-on-year to EUR 2.5m as revenue rose by a mere 1% to EUR 296m. 

STA, 10 May - Slovenia's basketball prodigy Luka Dončić continues to boost his stock for this year's NBA draft, having been named into the 2017-18 All-EuroLeague First Team, the ideal five-man team of Europe's top club basketball competition. He is only the second Slovenian with the honour, following Erazem Lorbek in the 2011-12 season. 

STA, 10 May 2018 - The Slovenian technological community will set up a European Blockchain Hub, which will aim to become a leading European platform bringing together various stakeholders. Its founding assembly is scheduled for 25 May. 

STA, 10 May 2018 - Slovenia exported EUR 7.5bn worth of goods in the first quarter of 2018, which is a 9.3% rise compared to the same period in 2017. Imports reached EUR 7.3bn or 9% more than a year ago. Trade surplus topped EUR 155m and the exports-to-imports ratio was 102%, the Statistics Office said on Thursday. 

STA, 9 May 2018 - Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković, the head of Positive Slovenia (PS), and head of the Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) Karl Erjavec have signed an agreement establishing a "left bloc". The main point of the agreement is the commitment that the parties in the bloc will not form a coalition with the centre-right Democrats (SDS). 

STA, 10 May 2018 - The number of vacancies and occupied jobs rose in the first quarter of 2018, putting Slovenia's job vacancy rate at 2.5%, the highest since 2008, data released by the national Statistics Office (SURS) on Thursday showed. This reflects employers' complaints that workers are hard to find.

STA, 9 May 2018 - Household appliance group Gorenje chose a strategic partner on Wednesday after receiving three binding bids the day before. The management announced it had chosen Chinese group Hisense, which offered EUR 12 per share. Based on the number of existing shares in late March, the deal will exceed EUR 146.5m for 50% plus one share. 

STA, 9 May 2018 - Banka Slovenije generated EUR 70.7m in surplus last year, which is almost a quarter more than in 2016. As required by law, the central bank will transfer 25% of the amount or 17.7m to the state budget. 

STA, 9 May 2018 - In the face of a significant increase in the number of illegal migrants crossing the Slovenian-Croatian border recently, the police are considering introducing additional measures to cope with the situation. For now, they say the situation is under control.
