Its debt stood at 72.8% of GDP, down a full 2.8 percentage points on the first quarter and a 7.4-point improvement over the year before.
At both the quarterly and annual levels, Slovenia saw the biggest improvement among all members of the bloc.
Public debt increased in six EU members in the second quarter and declined in 21.
Slovenia was also among only five countries to have posted a general government surplus in the same period.
With a surplus of 0.6% of GDP, it was second only to Portugal (2.1% of GDP).
