After winning the 2017 IFSC Climbing World Cup, Slovenia’s Janja Garnbret got off to great start with the new season, taking the gold at the bouldering competition held in Moscow over the weekend.
Last year the teenager from Šmartno became the first athlete to win nine IFSC World Cup events in a single season, and while in Russia Garnbret obtained the same number of points as Japan’s Miho Nonaka, she won the event due to her perfect performance in the semi-finals, conquering all four of the problem climbs set, while Nonaka achieved only two.
On the men’s side, Slovenia’s Jernej Kruder and Gregor Vezonik came second and third, respectively, with Japan’s Tomoa Narasaki taking the gold.
