December 10, 2017

It appears that Jakov Fak will not be losing the momentum any time soon. In the pursuit match in Hochfilzen he ended second after Johannes Thingnes Boe from Norway, Martin Fourcade from France was the third.

In a pursuit, biathletes' starts were separated by their time differences from a previous race, that was sprint which Fak ended third, 35.4 seconds after the winning Boe and 23.3 seconds later than Martin Fourcade, who was second. In the pursuit race the contestant crossing the finish line first is the winner. The distance is 12.5 km for men and 10 km for women with four shooting bouts (two prone, two standing) and each miss means penalty loop of 150m.

Fak reached the finish line about a minute after Boe and 10 seconds before the Oestersund winner Foucard, who missed three shots in the last shooting bout and thereby lost the leading position he held until then.

Two more Slovenes were in the pursue race, Klemen Bauer started 22nd and fell to 37 place after the pursuit, Miha Dovžan started 40th and ended 45th.

Top four in the current World Cup standings are:
