The American continues to dominate the giant slalom.

Kranjska Gora, 6 January, 2018 - The STA reports that Mikaela Shiffrin of the US kept her lead from the first run of the women's giant slalom as part of the Alpine Ski World Cup in Kranjska Gora on Saturday to win the event, finishing 0.31 seconds ahead of Tessa Worley of France and 0.91 seconds ahead of Sofia Goggia of Italy after the second run.

Worley was faster than the overall World Cup leader Shiffrin in the second run, but failed to make up for the 0.86-second margin from the first.

The winner told the press after the win that "It was a really fun GS, and it was just a little bit bumpy, but actually really fun to ski, and yeah, I'm excited". Asked about her second run, Shiffrin said that "I was trying to be aggressive but not risk everything, so it worked out OK".

The best Slovenian was Tina Robnik, who shares the seventh place with Sara Hector of Sweden, falling +1.39 seconds behind the winner. The remaining two Slovenians in the second run, Meta Hrovat and Ana Drev, finished 13th (+1.98 sec) and 20th (+2.61), respectively.

The Golden Fox World Cup event will conclude on Sunday with the women's slalom competition.
