January 20, 2018

The STA reports January 20, 2018, that Austria's Andreas Prommegger won the men's parallel snowboard giant slalom World Cup event on Slovenia's Rogla on Saturday and Ester Ledecka of the Czech Republic finished first in the women's event.

Prommegger placed ahead of Italy's Edwin Coratti and Austria's Benjamin Karl.

Slovenia's best snowboarders, Žan Košir and Rok Marguč, failed to make it to the finals, ending 19th and 20th in the qualification series, respectively.

Tim Mastnak was the best Slovenian at the 8th place.

The star of women's snowboarding, World Cup leader Ledecka won the women's event. This is her fourth parallel giant slalom victory this season and the 13th World Cup win.

She defeated Austria's Claudia Riegler, while another Austrian, Julia Dujmovits, placed third.

Slovenia's Gloria Kotnik missed the podium by a whisker, ending 4th, which is her best career result.

This is the second time she managed to finish among the top ten, the last time being in Cortina d'Ampezzo earlier this season when she ended 8th in the same event.

Tomorrow, Rogla hosts another parallel giant slalom event.
