More than 100 builders work on the second part of the 13 km section of the motorway. The first part was completed last year, while the other, about 6 km long, is to be completed presumably in the autumn, more than two months before the deadline, DARS has told the STA.
To make the lives of travellers a bit easier at the height of the season, DARS plans to inform them of potential traffic jams upon entering Slovenia form either side and direct them to other border crossings. This has proved a successful tactic in the past two seasons, DARS added.
The construction of the entire section is valued at EUR 251m, with DARS securing EUR 71m from own funds and EUR 113m through a loan with the European Investment Bank. Nearly EUR 67m was secured from European funds.
