The first new route will link Austria's Styria via Maribor and Ljubljana with Croatia's Pula and the other Austria's Klagenfurt, via Ljubljana, with the island of Krk.
Both routes' buses will stop in Ljubljana at the same time for half an hour, enabling passengers from various parts of Slovenia to travel on to Istria and the Kvarner Bay, or Austria and on to Germany, Dejan Čebohin, who is in charge of business development at Flixbus, said at a news conference in Ljubljana on Tuesday.
In 2017, Flixbus started a partnership with Slovenian coach company Nomago, a leading player in this field.
Director Sandi Brataševec said that for Nomago, the partnership means transport optimisation and less pollution. It also enables them to market their own international routes together with Flixbus.
Riding on a wave of industry consolidation, Nomago has brought under one roof transport companies Avrigo, Izletnik and Promet Mesec, and will integrate tour operator STA Potovanja and another two coach companies, one of which from Croatia, in the autumn.
Slovenia joined Flixbus's network in mid-2016 as the 20th country to do so, and is directly linked with 13 countries.
Eight Slovenian cities are on the map of Flixbus's international routes, with Maribor and Ljubljana being also important centres for Central and Eastern Europe.
Starting as a start-up in 2012, Flixbus launched expansion outside Germany in 2015. Until the end of 2017, it transported more than 100 million passengers, according to Čebohin.
