The regional aviation website Ex-Yu Aviation reports that easyJet is getting ready to launch flights between Berlin’s Tegel Airport and Ljubljana, with the new services currently scheduled to start August 2 and run until November 10 (the final date open for booking at the time of writing), with flights on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The site quotes Thomas Haagensen, easyJet Europe's Managing Director, as follows: "This new route from Berlin has been unserved for a few months so we’re really happy to connect the two capitals again. Berlin Tegel is easyJet’s third destination from Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, in addition to our existing services to London Gatwick and London Stansted".
Details of the flights to Berlin are here, while those to Ljubljana are here.
However, Ex-Yu Aviation goes on to note that high taxes, refuelling prices, and other charges mean that many low cost airlines are reluctant to start services in Ljubljana, with Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary quoted as saying: “If Ljubljana Airport were to lower its taxes Ryanair would surely return to Slovenia”.
