Sinfo, a bimonthly publication produced by the Government Communication Office to help promote Slovenia, has released its latest edition, focusing on World Bee Day, which will be celebrated for the first time on May 20. This addition to the calendar was largely due to the efforts of Slovenia’s government and beekeepers, who campaigned at the UN to recognize the vital role that the bee and other pollinators play in the environment, and especially with regard to food production.
In addition to World Bee Day, and the work to achieve it, the magazine also includes an interview with Dr Peter Kozmus, president of the Beekeeping Council, and stories on the pioneers of Slovenian beekeeping, the famously gently and productive Carniolan honey bee, and the phenomenon of urban beekeeping.
