STA, 2 August 2018 - A Swiss woman was fined nearly EUR 2,000 for leaving two dogs in an overheated car in the seaside town of Lucija on Wednesday. The police were called by a waitress serving the woman, who had left the car in the sun in front of the bar as temperatures were inching into the upper 30s at about 14:00.
STA, 2 August 2018 - The French-owned financial company SKB Group started the year on a positive note, generating EUR 24.4m in net profit in the first six months of the year, which is 9.3% more than in the same period of 2017. Net revenue of the banking group was up 3.2% to EUR 55.7m.
STA, 2 August - Piran will once again become a venue for fans of classical music in the coming weeks, as the annual Tartini Festival opens with a performance by the Salzburg Chamber Soloists tonight. Taking a break until 22 August after the opening night, the festival will then feature ten concerts by 8 September.
STA, 30 July 2018 - Interactive net artist Vuk Ćosić has launched a project with the poster company TAM-TAM featuring poster portraits of Jewish residents of Ljubljana who were taken to Nazi concentration camps during the Holocaust, which announces the installation of Stolpersteine in the Slovenian capital next week.
STA, 1 August - Dnevnik and Večer, Slovenia's leading newspaper publishers, announced a merger on Wednesday, after they have applied for regulatory approvals from the Culture Ministry and the Competition Protection Agency.

Jon Luskin’s train left Vienna for Ljubljana at approximately 9 a.m. local time on 22nd June 2018. He arrived in Ljubljana, Slovenia later that day, 22nd June 2018, and arranged accommodation for the evening. Over the course of the evening of 22nd June 2018, Jon communicated with a friend via WhatsApp updating them as to his arrival in Slovenia and of his intention to undertake a hike over the weekend of 23/24 June 2018 in the Triglav National Park, Slovenia, commencing the following day, 23rd June 2018.
