The Trbovlje-born cyclist continues to rise in cycling. 

STA, 7 April 2018 - Cyclist Primož Roglič (LottoNL-Jumbo) became today the first Slovenian overall winner of one of toughest annual professional races, the Tour of the Basque Country.

The former ski-jumper dominated this year's Basque Country race, being among the top finishers in all the six stages and convincingly winning the time trial.

This is Roglič's fourth general classification win at the top level of the international cycling circuit after he also won the Tour of Slovenia, Tour d'Azerbaidjan and the Tour of the Algarve.

The 28-year-old became in 2017 the first Slovenian to win a Tour de France stage and also took silver in the individual time trial at last year's World Cycling Championships.

Four other Slovenian racers have overall victories, foremost among them Simon Špilak with three general classification wins, two of the at the prestigious Tour de Suisse, including last year.
