Mitch McCarron, the Australian National Team point guard who plays for Cairns Taipans, is set to arrive in Slovenia on Thursday to take up his new position with Olimpija Ljubljana (aka KK Olimpija Ljubljana and Petrol Olimpija), where he is also expected to play as point guard. McCarron played 28 games this season in Australian, averaging 11.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
McCarron will not be the first Australian to play for Olimpija, as Aron Baynes was on the team before moving to the NBA, and the Ljubljana team was also a stepping stone to the US for Goran Dragić and Danny Green.
Olimpija’s next game is on Saturday, March 3, against KK FMP Beograd.
