STA, 29 October2018 - The battle for the church at the Križanke open-air theatre which was returned to the Teutonic Order in a lengthy denationalisation process in March last year continues, as Festival Ljubljana, which manages the church, has still not handed over the keys. The Teutonic Order has now turned to the court, Dnevnik reports on Monday. 

STA, 29 October - After the Supreme Court suspended the 25-year prison sentence for Milko Novič in relation to the death of Chemistry Institute director Janko Jamnik and upheld his appeal on a point of law in mid-September, his lawyer announced on Monday that the court had quashed the relevant rulings of the first and second instance courts and ordered a retrial.

Slovenia’s Domen Škofic took first place on the podium in Xiamen, China, over the weekend, getting gold in the men’s lead event, with Italy’s Stefano Ghisolfi in second and South Korea’s Hyunbin Min in third. 

STA, 29 October 2018 - Slovenian households recorded one of the highest saving rates in recent years in 2017, with the average household saving EUR 1,750. At 13.9%, the gross household savings rate was also one of the highest in Europe, where the average was 9.9%, the Statistics Office said. 

Bitstamp has been purchased by NXMH, a Belgium-based investment company that is the European subsidiary of South Korea-based NXC, which invests in digital technologies. NXC also owns South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Korbit, and Nexon, a South Korean gaming company. 

STA, 27 October - A survey by the International Federation of Robotics has shown that 144 robots were used in Slovenia per 10,000 workers in 2017, which is substantially above the European average. The car industry plays a strong part in this, with Slovenia even ranking 7th in the world when it comes to the share of robots in the auto industry. 

STA, 29 October - Some 300-kilometre-long hiking trail around the Julian Alps was officially launched last week with organised tours on sections of the route in the Gorenjska and Primorska regions. Mountain and cycling trails are also planned in the region. 

STA, 29 October - The Pivovarna Laško Union brewery, which was established in 2016 with the merger of Laško and Union after the two were acquired by Heineken a year earlier, last year generated EUR 151m in net sales revenue, 1% more than in 2016. Net profit rose by 34% to EUR 15m.
